CVC Write the Room
Kid-friendly directions for all centers with visuals to prompt students and promote more independence at centers.
Roll a CVC Word: Roll three dice to build a CVC word. Map it, blend it, and write it on the recording page after determining if it is a real or nonsense word.
Tap it, Map it, Write it: Look at the picture and say the word. Tap each of the boxes while saying the sounds (phonemes) and then map the word by putting one colored chip in each box as you say the sounds again. Write the word on the recording page.
Real or Nonsense Sort: Choose a card. Touch the dots below each letter while saying the sounds to decode the word. Determine if it is a real or nonsense word, then sort it into the correct column.
CVC Write the Room: Encode through movement! Find a picture card that is hidden around the room. Say the word, then break it apart, segmenting each of the 3 sounds in the CVC word. Write the word on the recording page.
